How to Join The 1.12.2 Pack Server (Step-by-Step)
The 1.12.2 Pack is a kitchen-sink modpack built entirely around Minecraft 1.12.2, the version many players consider the golden age of modded Minecraft. It bundles over 200 mods covering tech, magic, space and exploration into one polished, pre-configured experience on the Technic platform. This guide walks you through installing the pack and joining the SiriusMC server, start to finish, in about 10 minutes.
What is The 1.12.2 Pack?
The 1.12.2 Pack is a curated collection of more than 200 mods for Minecraft 1.12.2, distributed through the Technic platform. Rather than focusing on a single theme, it aims to include the best of everything the era had to offer: classic tech mods such as IndustrialCraft 2, BuildCraft and Logistics Pipes, magic through Witchery: Resurrected and Mystcraft, space travel with Galacticraft and ExtraPlanets, plus exploration staples like the Twilight Forest. The pack ships with in-game guides and tuned configs, so the mods work together properly instead of fighting each other.
If you want one pack that lets you build a nuclear reactor, enchant with witchcraft, write your own dimensions and fly to other planets, all in the same world, this is it.
Why 1.12.2 is called the golden age of modded
Minecraft 1.12.2 held the modding crown for years. Because the game stayed on that version for so long, mod developers had time to polish, optimise and finish their projects rather than constantly porting to new versions. The result is a library of mature, feature-complete mods that many later versions never fully matched, and several classics that were never updated past 1.12.2 at all. Packs on 1.12.2 also run noticeably lighter than modern packs, so mid-range PCs handle them comfortably. That combination of depth, stability and performance is why 1.12.2 packs still pull big player counts today.
What you need before you start
- Minecraft Java Edition account (Bedrock will not work, the pack is Java-only)
- The Technic Launcher, free from technicpack.net
- 8 GB of system RAM, with around 5-6 GB allocated to the pack
- A stable internet connection for the initial modpack download
Step 1: Install the Technic Launcher and the pack
The 1.12.2 Pack lives on the Technic platform, so you install it through the Technic Launcher rather than CurseForge.
- Download the Technic Launcher from technicpack.net and run the installer
- Log in with the Microsoft account that owns your Minecraft license
- Click the Modpacks tab and search for "The 1.12.2 Pack"
- Select the official pack from the results and click Install in the bottom right
- Wait for the download to finish, the first install pulls down all 200+ mods
Step 2: Allocate memory and launch
The pack's own recommendation is 5-6 GB of allocated RAM. Because 1.12.2 is an older, lighter engine, you do not need to go higher than that, and allocating far more than recommended can actually make performance worse.
- In the Technic Launcher, click Launcher Options in the top right
- Open the Java Settings tab
- Set Memory to 5 GB (6 GB if you have 16 GB of system RAM)
- Close the options, select The 1.12.2 Pack and click Play
- Give the first launch a few minutes, 200+ mods take a moment to initialise
Step 3: Join the SiriusMC server
- On the Minecraft title screen, click Multiplayer
- Click Add Server
- Set the server name to "SiriusMC 1.12.2 Pack" (or anything you like)
- In Server Address, paste the IP listed on our server page for The 1.12.2 Pack
- Click Done, then double-click the new entry to join

Troubleshooting
Most problems joining a 1.12.2 pack server come down to memory or a version mismatch. Run through this list first, and ask in our Discord if you get stuck.
- "Outdated client/server", your pack version does not match the server, check our server page for the version we run and install that build via the gear icon on the pack
- "Connection refused", the server may be restarting, wait 60 seconds and try again
- Crash on launch or during world load, raise allocated memory to 6 GB in Launcher Options > Java Settings
- Very low FPS, lower your render distance in video settings first, 1.12.2 is single-thread heavy
- Stuck or corrupted download, delete the pack via the gear icon and reinstall it fresh
