Tekkit 2 Getting Started Guide
Tekkit 2 is the official sequel to the pack that started modded Minecraft for a generation of players: a focused 1.12.2 tech pack built around IndustrialCraft, BuildCraft, ProjectE, Galacticraft and friends. Compared to modern 400-mod kitchen sinks it is refreshingly readable, and the classic progression still holds up. Here is how to go from punching trees to running machines.
Why Tekkit 2 feels different from modern packs
Modern kitchen-sink packs give you five competing versions of every machine. Tekkit 2 gives you one coherent tech tree in the classic lineage: IndustrialCraft for machines and power, BuildCraft for pipes and logistics, ProjectE for late-game resource multiplication and Galacticraft for the space race. Less choice paralysis, more momentum, and every mod in the pack has a job.
First night: the vanilla checklist plus one
Night one is standard survival with a single modded priority: rubber. Find rubber trees, tap them, and hoard the output, because rubber gates the cables and machine parts everything else needs.
- Base, bed, food and basic iron tools, exactly as in vanilla
- Collect rubber early: it is the bottleneck for your first machines
- Mine generously: copper and tin matter as much as iron now
- On a server, claim your land before your first machine goes down
Your first power: IndustrialCraft basics
IndustrialCraft is the entry point to Tekkit 2's tech tree. The starter loop is simple: build a generator, feed it fuel, and connect your first machines with cables. Solar panels arrive a little later, and batteries smooth out supply and demand in between.
Ore doubling changes everything
The macerator is the first machine that matters: it grinds ores into two dusts, doubling every ingot you smelt from then on. Macerator plus furnace is the seed of your first processing line, and expanding that line, with an extractor for rubber and more storage in between, is the natural early-game arc.
- Macerator first, powered by your starter generator
- Add a second furnace so smelting keeps pace with grinding
- Extractor next, to turn sticky resin into rubber efficiently
- Batteries and better cabling once machines start competing for power
Early automation with BuildCraft
Once machines exist, stop feeding them by hand. BuildCraft pipes move items between chests, machines and furnaces, and a small quarry is the classic Tekkit rite of passage that turns mining into infrastructure. Keep your first quarry modest and close to home: power delivery over distance is its own project.
What opens up next
The mid and late game fan out from there. ProjectE's energy condensers turn your resource surplus into any material you need, which quietly solves every scarcity problem in the pack. Galacticraft is the big destination: building a rocket and reaching the Moon is Tekkit 2's equivalent of an endgame trophy. Mystcraft ages, enabled on our server, add custom dimensions along the way.
- ProjectE: work toward your first energy condenser for resource freedom
- Galacticraft: the rocket program is a full project chain worth planning for
- Mystcraft: dimension writing for resources and just for the novelty
Playing on the SiriusMC Tekkit 2 server
Everything above works solo, but Tekkit was born multiplayer. On our Tekkit 2 server your builds sit behind land claims, the economy and player shops give your quarry output somewhere to go, and the veterans in chat have two decades of collective Tekkit muscle memory to borrow from. If you have not installed the pack yet, our step-by-step joining guide covers it, and we also run Tekkit SMP for the newer take on the formula.
